Door 154 is the debut album from multi instrumentalist Jack Erin Brown coreleased on Nudie Records and Tunnel Records. Recorded in spurts from 2022-24, the record is a multi genre instrumental voyage blending influences from hip hop, krautrock, library music, to jazz and beyond.
The journey to Door 154 began influenced by the dichotomy of tracks like Donovan’s ‘Hurdy Gurdy Man’ where you have gentle psychedelia coupled with hard and pounding funky drums. The album was recorded primarily in Jack’s home studio along with time at Santo Studios in Oakland CA. Jack Erin Brown’s passion for the sweet spot of samples mixed with live instrumentation is the heartbeat of the record. Nearly all instruments were played by the artist when possible. Jack Erin Brown is a longtime record store employee and crate digger, and the years of listening led to what you hear.
